Kick or Keep: Skin Care Samples Review

I love the Holidays! It’s the best time of the year to try out new beauty products. I was given the Biotherm skin care sample products from Galerie Beauty, Pharmaprix  (Shoppers Drug Mart) for consideration. I was on the moon and back, when I was given the opportunity to do this on a regular basis. I want to thank Sylvie for this wonderful project.

I’m excited and want to jump right in.

press samples

Here’s what I’m so obsessed with at the moment.

Take a peek!

Blue Therapy Serum Visible Signs of Aging Repair (CAD$69.00 regular size  30 ml bottle) on Biotherm website. Paraben Free!

It is actually the star of this set for me. It’s something I would never purchase for myself and it comes as a surprise I even liked it. This was created for combination skin types and it is a pretty basic yet fabulous moisturizer. I’m always look for moisturizers that are super rich and hydrating that’s why I’ve passed on this time and time again.

It really works on dark spots and It smells so good. I’ve been trying this for more than a¬†week and the spots looks less visible. I’m satisfied with the result thus far. As for wrinkles, I’ll continue to use this serum and update back once I’ve concluded the final result.

I really like the way my skin feel when I use this product. The price is more than I can continue to pay unless there are deals offered. I have only been using this product for more than a week and can already tell a difference in my skin. I do love your products Biotherm.

Biomains Hand Cream Age Delaying Hand & Nail Treatment (CAD$31.00 regular size 100 ml).

I hate the feeling of greasy hands and I believe some of you may agree with me. But then I tried Biomains. This sample product is amazing. It takes only a small portion to moisturize your hands and it dries in seconds without ANY greasy residue. It says on the packaging that it’s nail treatment too, so I can’t wait to see better result from this bad boy.

It has a very subtle and pleasant smell that I really really love. I’d recommend this product and would get a full size tube once I’m low on the¬†free sample.

Biosource Daily Exfoliating Cleansing Melting Gel (CAD$21.00 for 150 ml tube) at Pharmaprix Pincourt or drugstores.

It contains micro beads for exfoliating your skin. I’ve been using it 3¬†times a week and I can see the difference. I got compliment from my friends and told them it’s thanks to¬†BioSource Exfoliating gel. I can “Kiss goodbye to the stubborn death skin”.

This face wash exfoliate is great, I loved it, feels great, smells so wonderful and cleans really well. I can see my face brighter and refresh. I’ll definitely be purchasing a full size of it soon!

Lait Corporel Anti-Drying Body Milk (CAD$29.00 a bottle net wt: 400ml) has an amazing citrus scents which feels so refreshing on skin. I pulled out this sample sachet two days back and applied it at night to test my reaction to this cream. And Oh boy! The citrus-y scents and milk like cream feels so good on skin.

It is a great product but expensive for a daily moisturizer or wait for a sale. If you’ve been loving this moisturizer for a long time, I can understand you’d go back in the fold.

I’m satisfied with the result and I’m repeating it again. Very gentle, pleasant smell. Excellent moisturizing. There you have it, guys!

Biotherm Replumping and Smoothing Lip Balm (CAD$22.00) is perfect for dry winter days which I’ve been experiencing lately. One thing I find about Biotherm lip balm, is it helps chapped lips to become smooth and plump with its high nutrient. It keeps my lips moisturized and the best part is that it’s colorless. I’m loving¬†the staying power and the light scents. Doesn’t feel tacky or sticky on lips. My lips feels very comfortable wearing them. I’ll say it’s a little spend-y but worth your¬†money.

OK, I’ve used it for a week, but so far I’m in LOVE with this lip balm.¬†Obviously there is more testing to be done, but so far so good!

My final verdict: All the products which I’ve tried are a keeper. At this moment I honestly doesn’t have any bad things to say about them. These are amazing skin care products which are paraben free and products that actually work. It’s worth the investment in your skin care routine. I recommend this and would purchase them in regular size. I love the delicious smell of freshness.

Don’t just take my word for it, try it and be sure to let me know what you think in the comment section. I love to hear your comments.

Thank you for taking the time to read. You guys are AWESOME!

Sharon xoxo

Unboxing: My Too Faced Sex & Chocolate (Boxing Day)

No, I didn’t make a mistake in the title, even though December is gone, but I got this¬†on¬†Boxing Day, a day after¬†Christmas, so have an excuse why I’m showing you last month’s box only now. Yes, I still have lots of unboxing even in January.

I’d had my eye on this bronzer for some time, and finally I got this during the Boxing Day sale at Sephora.

In this box, you get a Chocolate Soleil Bronzer and Better Than Sex Mascara by Too Faced.  It was for CAD$15.00 on limited quantities. The packaging of the sample bronzer is in a soft black plastic material, not very attractive but when I open the lid, I feel like I was in a chocolate factory. The bronzer smells amazing and delicious,  I just want to eat it up!

And I believe the actual product comes with a sturdy packaging with a full sized mirror.

I have this in medium to dark, even though my skin tone is light/medium. I¬†would say it¬†suits¬†my skin¬†nicely, it warms it up, lasts all day and it’s very flattering. It also smells amazinggg!

It is matte! To me, shimmer gets old, so I want something natural-looking. Something that won’t make me look like a disco ball. Since this is a matte bronzer, it is perfect.

It’s not orange at all so you can use it to contour or just as an all over bronzer.¬†Blends nicely and highly pigmented so you will not need a lot on your brush. One of the best out there. Totally matte, creamy, and gorgeous¬†and so it photographs well. Product is dense, so you don’t go through it too quickly. Way to go Too Faced!

If you’re a sucker for bronzer, this is totally worth the splurge!¬†So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and spoil yourself silly!

I know this is definitely not the latest product from Too Faced.¬† I’ve heard many good things about this mascara for a long time and was pleasantly surprised by it.

Better than sex, eh! Hmm… I’m trying to figure out the connection¬†between the two¬†and¬†I probably need to meditate on this¬†for¬†an answer. lol!

I spent a week wearing it and I really like the formula. It does need more work for me to work on my short lashes to look great, but I must say the end results were undeniably satisfying.

To get the important question out of the way Рdoes it even work? Yes, it does. But I think it would have a much more impressive result on long lashes.

I want to put it out there, this is¬†not a waterproof mascara, so it doesn’t hold curl on my lashes that much.¬†On my lashes I don’t feel that the amount of added length is that significant but it does appeared more voluminous nevertheless.¬†It can get clumpy if you’re not too careful. Thankfully, it hasn’t smudge or flaked on me with two coats.

The low is that it doesn’t hold well throughout the day for me.

On a positive note, you need less of the product because it is so thick and rich! ūüôā the brush has many bristles going that gives¬†your lashes a nice even fullness.

A¬†great formula with a luxe¬†packaging, though I feel for most people it will be more like an occasional treat or lovely gift item rather than something they’ll regularly repurchase.

What do you think of this?¬†Do you think¬†it’s “better than sex”,¬†or it is a darn good mascara! Make sure to leave your comments down below.

Thank you for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!

Sugar Box Review, Photos & Swatch

This is my first SUGAR BOX Eyeshadow Palette¬†(US$7.99)from ebay, and I’ll admit I was a bit skeptic at first. But there was a week when I found myself always reaching out for this palette when I’m doing my makeup.¬†I got this for the holiday and I’m totally in love with¬†this palette.

Let’s jump right in, shall we!

Sugar Box Natural Eye Makeup

The eyeshadow palette I got is in¬†Natural Eye Makeup #03. Here’s a summary of this product:

  • Contain 10 pretty color shadows for different neutral¬†look
  • In this palette there are four¬†matte and six shimmering jewel¬†finish shadows
  • Packed with nice versatile shade selection.
  • These are warm undertones shades that looks pretty amazing on the palette¬†
  • Nicely pigmented color with¬†smooth & silk texture ‚̧
  • Love the packaging

  • Would be great if they name their palettes instead of by # numbers. Less confusing
  • Some shadows I noticed to be a bit tardy on fall out

Let me elaborate more of this product.

Eyeshadow placement from left to right: the first six shadows are shimmery while the last four are matte finish.

I was so excited! I did the¬†color swatch upon opening the package. Here’s the color swatch on bare arm (meaning with eye primer or base). Guys, what you see is what you get. These shadows stay true to its colors.

Beautiful color selection by Sugar Box

As far as the packaging goes, the size of the palette is small and sleek enough for travel and has a good size mirror with a decent duo eyeshadow brush which you could actually use if you want to.

The pigmentation on these eyeshadows are quite impressive for the price.¬†They’re not the best but it does give you a good color payoff with a good primer or base on. I also noticed that they’re long wearing and doesn’t budge.

Color swatch on bare arm

The matte formula are unbelievably buttery and smooth.¬†For the price, I consider this eyeshadow palette to be a pretty good buy. It has what you need and it does the job right. I will repurchase this again. I’m in love with the smooth texture and the neutral shades¬†are just amazing.

Overall Rating: 4 out 5

What do you think of this palette? Have you heard of this brand before. Leave your comments below.

Beauty Bandit: City Girl Princessa Shanghai Eyeshadow

Recently, I saw Beauty Youtuber Emily talked about beauty products¬†at Miss A Shop website and thanks for the reminder, I went back to shop online again. I bought a couple of products before and went¬†back mainly for the price. It’s dirt cheap BUT decent¬†quality. I would say, come¬†neck to neck with Elf cosmetics. Comparable in quality depending on the brands you choose from the site.

Miss A Shop carries not only cosmetics but jewelry, nails, hair and charms. Everything in the STORE is¬†for¬†US$1.00 ONLY! I know, it’s insane right!

I¬†ordered a few products from different brands like Malibu, Starry and City Girl. Today, I’m going to talk about City Girl Eyeshadow Trio – SHANGHAI

First thing I noticed when I unbagged this packaging is the spelling error on Eyeshadow. Gaahhhh! I was really upset since I’m a sucker for adorable packaging and this¬†destroys the cute packaging (boohoo hoo!).

princesa eyeshadow

That’s¬†my shocking expression you see here –¬†of¬†“sister” from the “Berenstain Bears” when I noticed the spelling error.¬†Needless to say, I immediately turn the packaging and found¬†it was Made In TAIWAN.¬†Bummer!

Don’t get me wrong, for the price these are good eyeshadows.¬†If you can live ignoring the wording then I recommend this.¬†I got the Shanghai, and the colors are decently pigmented, build-able, and you get a lot for the money. Plus there’s a cute mirror in the top of the container.

Shanghai as you see it!

But then, another shocker is the color selection (in a good way). Very nice shades of Shanghai. Available in six inspired cities in the world – Los Angeles, Paris, Tokyo, Shanghai, New York and Mexico City.

I ant to share a close up picture of this trio eyeshadow. It’s travel friendly and the paper box packaging is light to drop it in a purse.

Look! There is a round mirror on the inside lid. How cool is that?

The texture of the eyeshadow is like a decently milled pressed/compacted pigment. Incredibly easy to pick up products and it blends effortlessly. Color payoff is decent and it lasted the whole day I was wearing it yesterday and today.

Overall, I really like this shadow for now and it’s my love at first sight, and if you’re a girl who can’t be bothered with using makeup brushes or if you’re into the simple one-color eyeshadow looks, these are great. I love shadows that can be applied quickly and look great on their own, and this is one of them! So, YAY!

I also think this is a really pretty shade for Winter. I can see it looking great with berry or red lips! Don’t you think!

Color swatch on naked arm without primer or eye base.

My favorite application tool is my fingertip or an old-school sponge applicator, as they both pick up the most product and apply the product in an opaque layer. A small flat brush also works well, such as a small concealer brush.

If you are on a Low Buy or beginners to beauty department, you can definitely have to stop by¬†Miss A website. This deal is a steal, I didn’t mean for it to rhyme but it just did. Decent quality products that wouldn’t break your bank,

What do you think? Have you ever tried this brand before? Do you like them? Or are you completely over them?

Stay tune for more reviews on beauty products from Miss A Shop coming up next.

Thanks so much for stopping by and comment. Hope to see you on the next one! ūüôā

Anastasia Contour Kit Review, Photos & Swatch

SORRY TO BE THE ONE TO BREAK YOUR BUBBLES but let’s get real, The long holiday was over and we’re all back to our regular routines. I had a well deserved rest and the holidays were a blast. Well, except I caught a cold on New Year’s day I blame the crazy weather. Hot, cold, hot cold makes my body system goes haywire. I’ll stop ranting and get to the point quickly:

Let’s talk high end products for a minute. My new acquired possession for the New Year. Yes, yes! ANASTASIA Beverly Hills. I’ve seen youtuber Desi Perkins uses ABH contour kit on her makeup tutorials and I love how easy to do a face contour with these products. Desi is one of my favorite beauty¬†guru and I’m happy to be able to share her¬†youtube video in this post. Watch¬†how she shows you about contouring, ENJOY!

I ordered Anastasia Contour it in Light to Medium for CAD$52.00 at Sephora, I believe you can also find this it at Ulta and Nordstrom or at ABH online website for US$40.00. Available in three different shades. Light to Medium, Medium to Tan and Tan to Deep. Shades catered for all skin tones. Yipee!

I think the packaging is great for travel, its sleek, it stays closed…and overall the product is absolutely amazing.

A sleek, palette with six shades: top row – three for highlighting and bottom row – three for contouring.

I love this product! At first I was kinda hesitant to buy this due to the price but I’m in love with the pigmentation. I find that the product really sticks to your brush so you don’t have to keep grabbing more product. The texture is super smooth and blendable. Really great!

This is a super good product. I use Fawn for contouring and Sand or Banana for highlighting. I like Fawn because I find the other two have more of an orangey tint to them that shows up too harshly on me. I usually use Sand as a highlighter across my cheekbones because of the shimmer, and Banana on other areas I want to highlight which is more of a yellow. I use Vanilla occasionally as well for my inner corners.

The other darker shades I use more as a bronzer or eyeshadow. All in all it’s a pretty good contour kit and gets the job done. I use it everyday and it’s a staple in my makeup bag. It’s a little pricey but I definitely think it’s worth it.

This set contains:
– 6 x 0.11 oz Vanilla, Banana, Sand
– 6 x 0.11 oz Java, Fawn, Havana

The colors in this kit are absolutely perfect for me and move well through the seasons. It makes me look more vibrant, it looks natural, and the colors work for not only contouring my face, but I use a smaller brush and contour my nose. Love how the powders go on super smooth.¬†I finally found¬†my HOLY GRAIL for contouring!¬†I LOVE this kit! ‚̧

anastasia contour kit

I like that it comes with a highlighter, had individual shades that can be replaced as needed and I felt that these colors could be blended better.¬†Easy to use 6 different shade is great for the price, if you asked me! Don’t take my word for it, YOU must try it! y FREE.¬†

Top row: Highlighters     Bottom row: Bronzers

This is the best contour kit HANDS DOWN! You will not be disappointed.

Overall, I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in trying contouring a chance,¬†especially for beginners. And in my opinion, it’s a must have for all you makeup junkie!

What do you think of this contour kit? Have you tried it and if yes, don’t forget to leave your comments.

Thanks so much¬†for taking the time to read and hope to see you again on the next one ūüôā

Beauty Bandit: Wet n’ Wild Kohl Eyeliner

When I found out that they brought this kohl eyeliner at my local Dollar store for $1.50,  I made sure that this made this way to my shopping cart.

This set is definitely a steal!¬†What I really like about this eyeliner¬†is it’s¬†super pigmented. It’s¬†as vibrant as the actual pencil¬†is. Available in nine color icon shades at selected drugstores, Walmart, Target and online.

Wet n’ Wild is a cruelty free drugstore brand and if you’re animal conscious person, look for Wet n Wild products. Make sure to check the bunny logo¬†behind the packaging when you shop.

This¬†pencil has really good staying power and won’t budge that sometimes it’s a pain taking them off.¬†You would really need a good MAKEUP REMOVER because soap and water just won’t cut it

The Baby’s Got Black¬†eyeliner is excellent for more gothic¬†look or you just want that pop of¬†Black¬†in your eyes. They’re good by itself for those lazy days or paired up with your favorite eyeshadow combinations. Look picture below.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The eyeliners are very soft and has a creamy formula, but surprisingly, it doesn’t smudge or budge. Also, since the eyeliners are soft and creamy, application is easy because it just glides. Perfect to use for tight line.

It’s so affordable, pigmented, and stays on all day! The pencil doesn’t need to be sharpened too often and it’s huge! Definitely recommend.

What was YOUR first wet n’ wild eyeliner color? |I love to hear your comments.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read.

Christmas TAG!

keep calm

I saw this rylie*style¬†doing this Christmas Tag and since I was having so much fun doing my Holly Jolly Christmas Tag, I’m simply just¬†filled with¬†the holiday mood that I decided to do another tag post. Hope you’d like it.

I’m excited already so let’s jump in right away:

1. What’s you favorite Christmas film?

I’d go with It’s A Wonderful Life and Scrooge. We watched these classics movies every year.¬†It definitely gets me in the Christmas spirit ūüôā

2. Have you ever had a white Christmas?

Yes, most of the time. Living in Canada, the percentage of not having a White Christmas is next to zero! But seeing the weather this past few weeks, I might have to take it back. I very much want¬†a White Christmas, it wouldn’t feel the same¬†without snows.

3. Where do you usually spend your holidays?

Christmas day is mostly at home. I love spending a quiet Christmas day with my family! Open presents  followed by our traditional picture taking and watching Christmas classic movies. Then we lounged around, eat, naps and repeats.

4. What is your favorite Christmas song?

Hmm.. this is a tough one to choose. I love all Christmas songs but if I get to pick a favorite it’ll be White Christmas

5. Do you open your presents on Christmas eve?

Nope, I prefer everyone to open their gifts on Christmas Day.  More time to enjoy the gifts we received and be chatty the meaning of the gifts presented.

6. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?

Um‚ĶI don’t really know all but only Rudolph,¬†the Red nose reindeer. Okay, I’m¬†terrible¬†remembering names.

7. What holiday traditions are you most looking forward to this year?

Just spending time with my family! Wearing pyjamas on the morning of Christmas Day opening presents under the decorated Christmas tree.

8. Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

Fake! I would prefer to have a real tree though. I miss the smell of pine.

9. What is your all-time favorite Christmas sweet/treat?

Butter cookies and fruit cake!

10. Be honest: Do you like giving gifts or receiving them better?

The true meaning of this Holiday season is¬†mainly¬†about the spirit of giving. I very much enjoyed to give more than to receive. The joy that was¬†planted on each and everyone’s face are PRICELESS! I love¬†receiving gifts, of course.

11. What is the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?

I’ll have to skip on this one until next Wednesday’s post. Sneak peek, it’s a topic we wanted to share in our collaboration posts.

12. What would be your dream place to visit for the holidays?

Vacationing to Japan or Korea with¬†my family ¬†ūüôā

13. Are you a Pro present wrapper, or do you fail miserably?

I enjoy wrapping presents and always buy new ones to store every time. Finishing touch with a bow or star ribbon.

14. Most memorable holiday moment?

Having a new member added to our family. My son was born in Oct and it was so special for a little bundle of joy joining us that year!

15. What made you realize the truth about Santa?

Umm.. I honestly can’t remember. It was so long ago¬†ūüė¶

16. Do you make New Year’s Resolutions? Do you stick to them?

I make new resolutions yearly, and try to stick to them as much as I could!

17. What makes the holidays special for you?

Jesus is the Reason for this Season!
