Today, I’m going to talk about makeup products that I picked up from the drugstore. For those who are new to my post by matte I mean makeup products that doesn’t contained shimmer or shiny finish in it or anyway. This project took me longer than I expected. I’ve been up very early this morning and bomdiggidy pulled out some of the matte products that I really like to share them with you.
So, here are the products in no particular orders : –
I got the Essence Sun Club Matte Bronzer, Essence Matte Compact Powder, Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse, The Body Shop Pressed Powder and lastly NYX Matte Single Eyeshadow.
The matte bronzer that I wanted to talk about is this Sun Club Matt Bronzing Powder by Essence in 01 Natural. Net wt: 0.52 g. Summer is around the corner and what better time than to lug out some matte bronzer with a warm sun-kissed appearance I wanted to spotlight. This bronzer is super smooth and oh my gosh it has a slight scents of caramel or something delightful which I couldn’t put them in words. Love this Natural shade which gives an instant tan-ny look for contouring. I’ll put the color swatches down below, so continue reading. Pigmentation and coverage wise, absolutely amazing. Staying power, what can I say except it stays all day. Love it!
Essence Mattifying Compact Powder in 04 Perfect Beige. I will wear this matte powder to set my foundation. It does gives a natural looking finish that doesn’t look overdone. It’s smooth and the coverage is awesome. I wear this on my FOTD with all the other matte makeup products.
It’s a good setting powder if you’re looking for a budget spending purchase on a compact. It does it’s job and I’m genuinely happy so far.
Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse in Honey Beige is my all time favorite mousse foundation which is so lightweight and not sticky at all. I mean zero stickiness which is super cool. It absorbs into skin real fast and the it gives medium to full coverage.
In the jar and on swatches, the texture looks a little dark but on skin it looks like a perfect match ❤ . So, I would recommend that you do a color swatch at the store to make sure you pick the right shades. I really have to hop to the next product since this mousse looks too tempting I wan to eat it, LOL.
Alrighty, I know that the Body Shop is not a drugstore brand but still I really want to share this special little Pressed Face Powder in Dark that has been in my collection awhile ago. You can see from the photo on top that it looks pretty beat-up, huh! But anyways, this face powder has been with me through thick and thin and I’m anxious to share it. I cannot tell if Body Shop still carries it but maybe in a different new packaging.
But anyways, it is a cruelty free product which means they’re “Against Animal Testing”. It also claim in the packaging that it gives your makeup a velvet soft, matte finish and it contains vitamin E and Japanese Green Tea extract. It has a very mild scents of the extract. I love the beautiful coverage of not looking cakey but natural. This pressed powder can be refilled. Yup, you heard it right! REFILLED! That’s totally crazy.
The NYX Matte Hot Single Eyeshadow in STFU is a Matte Yellow. I’m pleasantly surprised with the bright yellow shadow that doesn’t looked too bright at all on lids than it was on pot. Very easy to blend and if you like to see more of how I did my single eyeshadow look with this Yellow shadow, full review is in this link.
I mean if you want your day to be bright and cheerful, wear something yellow like this happy shade that will put a smile on your face 😀 Yellow always makes me feel happy. Does it make you happy? I love to hear your comment.
Color swatches from my index finger to the little pinky : Maybelline Dream Mousse foundation, Essence Matt Bronzing powder, Essence Mattifying Compact powder and lastly The Body Shop Pressed Face powder. I used all the matte products to do the FOTD look (insert picture) except the NYX Yellow shadow. I did a review before on my previous post and if you like to check it out, just hit here.
In my opinion, a bold lip always makes the face look more pulled together and finished. The bold lip is very deliberate, if that makes sense. I just feel that it makes an otherwise barely-there makeup look seem very intentional and crisp.
Whew… I cannot believe I finished this entire blog post in one sitting (giggling!). I hope you enjoyed reading this post as much as I do sharing them with you guys.
If you are looking for some good drugstore alternatives to high end matte products, I really hope that this will help you to narrow down your drugstore finding with ease.
Yay!!! This is my second matte drugstore makeup post that I’m going to do it on a monthly basis. So, don’t forget to check back next month for another Drugstore MATTE Makeup Products.
